The Halifax Immigration Partnership (HIP) created the Welcome in Halifax program in collaboration with partners to assist refugees in their first year living in Halifax.
If you reside in Halifax, and qualify, you can get free access to partner facilities and programs, for one year with the Welcomed in Halifax pass.
Some programs may not be free within museums, Canada games Centre or Parks & REC. Please consult with each organization to see what they are offering as free access under this program.
This is not a bus pass, it is a card that gives you access to many programs including Transit.
Who can get a Welcomed in Halifax pass?
- The pass is free to all refugees over the age of 5 living in the Halifax region.
- To receive the pass, you must request the pass within one year of your arrival date.
- For access to programs in HRM operated facilities, one card would be enough for a whole household.
- For access to the Canada Games Centre as well as for the museums, access will be granted per cardholder, except for children under the age of 5, who can access these facilities for free.
This program is not renewable, and it is offered as assistance per person per lifetime.
